Now and then, people write about us...
Here are some recent press articles about Ludington's
Ride (one of the movies, one of the novels in the series, or the board game). The most current articles are at the top.
Journal-News reporter Michael Risinit
revisited our efforts to bring Sybil Ludington's story to the screen.
This time, writer-producer Charles Welty met with him for a private
discussion of the production while Mr. Welty was in Ludingtonville
scouting locations for his movie.
Eagle-Tribune reporter Lois Marchand
telephoned screenwriter Charles Welty for a private interview prior to
the release of this story. She got almost everything right, except the
release date of Ludington's Ride, which has not yet been
set. Also, as of the posting of her article, the budget for the film had
not been determined.
Wales on Sunday reporter Lucy Ballinger got
everything right, except for one minor point. Yes, I would like to see
that John Rhys-Davies plays the role of John Crane, the witty but tough
tavern owner in all three of the
Ludington's Ride films. Heck, I'd like to see
Sigourney Weaver
in the role of Tamar Crane, too! But we're a long way from shooting as of
the date of Ms. Ballinger's posting. We haven't even approached these
fine actors yet, or cast any of the other key roles. It seems Mr. Rhys-Davies said some
things about Western civilization that aroused the ire of some followers
of a certain religion from the East. But right or wrong, I felt Mr.
Rhys-Davies had a right to express his opinion without being
blacklisted.
Journal-News reporter David McKay Wilson writes about a
Revolutionary War re-enactment and cites local historian Vincent
Dacquino's comments about the upcoming motion picture Ludington's
Ride.
Journal-News reporter Michael Risinit got some of the facts wrong (Mr. Welty visited the DAR
Library
in Washington, DC in February of 2001, not in 1991). But over all, it's
a well-written and accurate piece.
